Week #162 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support (27/11/2025)
The final week of the Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support for November saw fifteen teams take part.
This week, “Harbour Lights” took the early lead in round one, opting to play their Joker to score 14 points on the ‘Starter For Ten’ round.
The Word Puzzle Round was ‘Dingbats’ again this week, which prompted quite a few Jokers to be played.
“Dunderheids”, “The Clan”, “The Giggle Gang” and “Universally Challenged” all scored 10/10 to get their first 2 Bonus Points of the evening, but “Bonnie & Clyde”, “The Bridies” and “The Stoaters” all also had full marks, but had played their Jokers as well to score the maximum 22 points each.
In the ‘Multiple Choice’ round, “Harbour Lights” scored 10/10 to earn their first 2 Bonus Points of the evening, but “The Clan” made it two perfect rounds in a row – and this time with their Joker, to score a maximum 22 points for the round.
For the Picture Round this week, the topic was ‘Cartoon Character Dogs’ – “Bonnie & Clyde”, “Craig & Mike” and “The Stoaters” all carded 10/10. However, “Dunderheids”, “The Giggle Gang” and “Universally Challenged” all doubled their perfect scores by playing their Jokers to share the round on 22 points each.
The topic for the Themed Round this week was ‘The 1990s’ – “Simple Minds” were the top-scorers with 14 points, thanks to their Joker.
In ‘Total Wipeout’ this week, the Snowball Jackpot had increased to £30, but there were no winners this week – five teams scoring ZERO and “The Clan” top-scoring on 7 points.
The final ‘Guess Who?’ round saw “Bonnie & Clyde” the only team to correctly guess Walt Disney as the mystery celebrity on the first question, making them the winners of the £20 cash prize.
It was also enough to see them win the Quiz overall this week, and with it the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.
“The Clan” were crowned our ‘Team of the Month’ for November, with a total of 79 points, winning £50 for the efforts. They very generously donated some of their winnings to the Macmillan Cancer Support bucket, so thanks to them!
“The Bridies” finished in second place on 77 points, with “Dunderheids” and “Tequila Mockingbird” splitting third place to take £5 each.
We look forward to beginning the December quizzes this Thursday, with 5 nights to look forward to in the month, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
We hope to see you at The Compass this Thursday from 8pm.
