Week #173 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (12/02/2026)

The second Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support of February was another really busy night, with 18 teams taking part. We were delighted to welcome along our newest team “The Convict & The Coloniser”!

Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’

Round One got off to a strong start – although none of our teams played their Joker cards, “Agatha Quiz-Tee”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, “The Clan” and “Universally Challenged” all scored 10/10 to get themselves 2 Bonus Points, and a share of the the early lead.

Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’

It was another game of ‘Inconsonants’ for the Word Puzzle Round, this week and the teams were required to correctly work out the names of ten Scottish singers and music acts of the 20th century.

“The Clan” continued their perfect start, scoring 10/10 again in this round, but were outdone by “Craig & Mike” and “The Bridies”, both of whom scored 20 points with their Jokers, securing their first 2 Bonus Points each for the evening.

Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’

In the ‘Multiple Choice’ round, there were loads of high-scoring teams, with NINE of the teams scoring full marks to get 2 Bonus Points!

“Caledonian MacBrains”, “Don Quizote”, “Dunderheids”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, “The Stoaters”, “Universally Challenged” and “The Convict & The Coloniser” all scored 10/10.

However, “Agatha Quiz-Tee” and “The Wotsits” scored the maximum 20 points with their Joker cards to share the round

Round Four – ‘Picture Round’

The Picture Round topic this week was ‘Rogues Gallery’ – ten well-known faces, with their genuine police mugshots used as the clues.

Again, this was a really high-scoring round, but “The Convict & The Coloniser” came out on top with the maximum 20 points, giving them their second consecutive 2 Bonus Points as well!

Round Five – ‘Themed Round’

The Themed Round was a return to the popular ‘True or False’ format.

There were no Jokers left by this point, and no perfect scores either, although all of our teams scored highly

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’

The Snowball Jackpot stood at £40 as we went into the ‘Total Wipeout’ round this week!

Only four teams scored zero this week, and “We’re Still Thinking” scored 10 points to claim the full jackpot.

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

In the final ‘Guess Who?’ round, “The Bridies” were the ONLY team to correctly guess that Louis Theroux was our mystery celebrity on the first clue, giving them 20 points AND the £20 cash prize for the round!

This led us to a tie-break for first place between “Craig & Mike” and “The Clan” to decide who would be the winners of this weeks Quiz.

And it was “The Clan” who got the answer exactly right (with “Craig & Mike” just one out) to win this weeks

£25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.
