Week #186 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (14/05/2026)

The second Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support for May saw 18 teams taking part, including our newest teams “The 56ers” and “One Bird, Two Stones”.

Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’

None of the teams chose to play their Joker cards for Round One, and so we have a 6-team tie on 8 points taking us into round 2.

Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’

The Word Puzzle Round this week was anagrams, with the topic being ten breeds of shark for the teams to unscramble.

There were several Jokers played for this round, but none of the teams managed perfect scores.

“Agatha Quiz-Tee”, “Dunderheids” and “Mirren’s Team” all scored a creditable 16 points with their Jokers!

Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’

In round 3 – the ‘Multiple Choice’ round – only two of the teams chose to play their Jokers, and it was one of those (“The Clan”) who were our top-scorers in this round with 16 points.

Round Four – ‘Picture Round’

The Picture Round this week was ‘Animal Eyes’.

There was a final flurry of Jokers played in this round, and despite “Dunderheids” recording the night’s only perfect score to get 12 points, “Quizteam Aguilera” and “We’re Still Thinking” won this round on 18 points each.

Round Five – ‘Themed Round’

The Themed Round this week marked the 100th birthday of legendary broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

This was a tough round for many of our teams, with “Tequila Mockingbird” our top-scorers on 8 points.

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’

The Snowball Jackpot had now reset at £10 for this weeks ‘Total Wipeout’ round.

With TWELVE of the teams failing to register any points in the round this week, there were still no winners, meaning next week’s Jackpot goes up to £20!

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

In the final ‘Guess Who?’ round, only “The Stoaters” guessed correctly on the FIRST clue that our mystery celebrity this week was British rock legend Mick Jagger, winning them the £20 cash prize.

It was another closely-fought Quiz this week, with a tie-break needed to separate “Quizteam Aguilera” from “The Clan” for second place, both teams having scored 65 points.

“Tequila Mockingbird” had chalked up 68 points, making them the winners for this week, and securing the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.
