Week #188 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (28/05/2026)

The final Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support of May was another very busy night, with NINETEEN teams and over 80 quizzers taking part.

Included tonight were our latest first-timers, “Public Enemy #1”, “Kirkcaldy All Day, Party All Night” and “Jack & Victor”, taking us up to an INCREDIBLE 396 teams since we started!

Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’

In Round One, there were no Jokers played, and having scored 9 points each, “Agatha Quiz-Tee” and “Universally Challenged” shared the lead after the opening ‘Starter for Ten’ round.

Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’

The Word Puzzle Round was ‘Dingbats’, and this led to a SENSATIONAL round, where EVERY SINGLE team scored full marks, meaning that they ALL got 2 Bonus Points each!

Even better for “Mirren’s Team”, “The Bridies”, “The Stoaters”, ” and “Kirkcaldy All Day, Party All Night”, who had ALL played their Jokers to score the maximum 22 points (including their 2 Bonus Points).

Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’

In round 3 – the ‘Multiple Choice’ round – “The Wotsits” managed their successive 10/10 to earn another 2 Bonus Points.

But it was “The Clan” who won this round thanks to their Joker, with a score of 18.

Round Four – ‘Picture Round’

The Picture Round this week was ‘Saturday Night TV Icons’- 10 famous faces from light entertainment shows of yesteryear.

We had another TEN perfect scores in this round, so Bonus Points were flying out, but it was “The Wotsits” (their 3rd consecutive perfect score!), “Agatha Quiz-Tee”, “Team Mac”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, “Universally Challenged” and “We’re Still Thinking” who ALL scored 20 points with their Jokers to get the maximum score in round 4.

Round Five – ‘Themed Round’

Into round 5 then, and the Themed Round this week was ‘True or False”.

A wee bit of mindgames from the host saw all ten answers being ‘True’ – which none of the teams picked up on!

“Jack & Victor” were the only team left with a Joker to play, and were rewarded with a score of 14 to win the round.

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’

The Snowball Jackpot stood at £30 this week, but with TEN of the teams failing to score any points, there were no winners again this time.

The Jackpot will now go up to £40 (wooo!) for the start of June!

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

In the final ‘Guess Who?’ round, FIVE teams all correctly guessed that actor Martin Sheen was our mystery celebrity this week.

“One For Yersel'” were drawn out first to win the £20. They very generously donated their winnings to Macmillan Cancer Support, so a HUGE thanks to them!

It was another keenly-fought Quiz this week, but no tie-breaks this time around.

“The Wotsits” were this week’s winners, with an impressive 84 points, giving them the final £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card of the month.

“Universally Challenged” were named our Team of the Month for May, with a score of 78 points.
