In the first round (‘Starter For Ten’), “The Clan” did just that to get 2 Bonus Points on the board early on, but were out-done by “Harbour Lights” and “Seal Pointers” who set the early pace, both scoring full-marks with their Jokers to get 22 points including their Bonus Points.

 

The topic for the Word Puzzle Round this week was ‘Classic British TV Sitcoms’ with the clues all having had all of the consonants removed. There were some really high scores, with “Caledonian MacBrains”, “Dunderheids”, and “The Clan” all carding perfect 10s to gain 2 Bonus Points each, but “The Bridies” got their first 2 Bonus Points of the night, with a maximum score with their Joker to win the round with 22 Points.

 

In Round 3, both “Simple Minds” and “Scissor Sisters” scored 10/10 to secure 2 Bonus Points each, but “The Clan” and “Futile” both scored 16 points each with their Joker to win the ‘Multiple Choice’ round.

 

As always, the ‘Picture Round’ saw a flurry of Jokers being played – this week the topic was ‘Marvellous Moustaches’ where the teams had to name the 10 famous moustachioed males from the pictures. “Bonnie & Clyde”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, “The Bridies”, and “The Clan” ALL got 10/10 to earn 2 Bonus Points for their teams, but “Dunderheids”, “The Stoaters” and “Universally Challenged” also scored full marks, but having played their Jokers, scored 22 points each with their Bonus Points added.

 

The Themed Round was quite simple this week – ten statements read out, and the teams had to work out if they were true or false. “Scissor Sisters” were the winners of this round, with 12 points courtesy of their Joker.

 

And then – it happened. Like London buses. After FORTY weeks of trying, (yes FORTY!), “Caledonian MacBrains” became the first team to win the maximum £100 Snowball Jackpot, getting all ten answers correct. Or so they thought.   Because before they could  order the champagne, “The Bridies” announced that they had also scored 10 points – you couldn’t make it up! So both teams had to ‘make do’ with a share of the pot – still, £50 each ain’t so bad!

 

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, we STILL had the ‘Guess Who?’ round to go. THIRTEEN teams correctly guessed Oprah Winfrey as this weeks mystery celebrity on the second clue, but it was “The Giggle Gang” who were drawn out to win the £20 prize.

 

Having been one of those 13 teams, it was enough for “The Bridies” to be crowned the first weekly winners of November, winning the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.
