Week #177 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (12/03/2026)
The second Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support of March was another busy night, with nearly 70 quizzers and 15 teams taking part.
Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’
Although none of the teams opted to play their Joker cards for Round One, both “The Bridies” and “The Wotsits” got full marks in the ‘Starter for Ten’ round to share an early lead on 12 points each.
Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’
The Word Puzzle Round this week was ‘Blankety Blank’, where the teams were given 10 famous movie quotes, and had to guess the missing word.
Only ONE POINT was dropped across all of the teams in this round, but “Agatha Quiz-tee”, “Bonnie & Clyde”, “Mirren’s Team”, “Simple Minds”, “Team Mac”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, “The Bridies”, “The Clan”, “The Stoaters”, “The Wotsits” AND “Universally Challenged” had ALL played their Joker card to score the maximum 22 points (including Bonus Points).
Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’
In round 3 – the ‘Multiple Choice’ round – none of the teams chose to play their Jokers.
“The Clan” were our top-scorers in this round with 9/10.
Round Four – ‘Picture Round’
The Picture Round this week was famous Scottish landmarks.
The last few Joker cards were played in this round, and it was “One For Yersel'” who came out on top, with 18 points.
Round Five – ‘Themed Round’
Our Themed Round this week was St Patricks Day.
However, none of our teams enjoyed the ‘luck of the Irish’ with “The Bridies” being our top scorers on 9 points.
Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’
The Snowball Jackpot had now increased to £40 for this weeks ‘Total Wipeout’ round.
Despite 5 of the teams failing to register any points in the round this week, there were still no winners, meaning next week’s Jackpot goes up to a tasty £50!
Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’
In the final ‘Guess Who?’ round, THREE teams guessed correctly on the FIRST clue that our mystery celebrity this week was British comedy legend Jasper Carrot.
“The Bridies”, “The Giggle Gang” and “The Stoaters” had all got the answer right at the same time – but it was “The Bridies” who were drawn out to win the £20 cash prize this week!
It was another closely-fought Quiz this week, with a tie-break needed to separate “The Wotsits” from “The Stoaters” for second place, both teams having scored 82 points.
“The Bridies” had accumulated 4 Bonus Points to add to their base score of 80 points, making them the winners for this week, and securing the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.
We look forward to seeing you at The Compass this coming Thursday from 8pm!
