Week #181 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (09/04/2026)

The second Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support of April was another busy night, with 19 teams taking part, including our newest teams, “Half A Rainbow” and “Hob Nobbs”.

Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’

Four of our teams got off to a flyer in the first round, scoring full marks on the ‘Starter for Ten’ questions.

Although “Bonnie & Clyde”, “The Clan” and “Universally Challenged” all started of with 10/10 to get 2 Bonus Points each, “The Bridies” played their Joker early to score the maximum 22 points to take an early lead.

Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’

The Word Puzzle Round this week was anagrams, with the teams given the scrambled names of ten British TV presenters to work out.

Despite EIGHT Jokers being played in this round, “Tequila Mockingbird” and “The Wotsits” were our joint top-scorers on 12 points with their Jokers.

Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’

In round 3 – the ‘Multiple Choice’ round – only two teams opted to play their Jokers.

“Agatha Quiz-Tee”, “Caledonian MacBrains”, “Simple Minds”, “Tequila Mockingbird”, and “Universally Challenged” ALL scored 10/10 to earn 2 Bonus Points.

But “The Clan” scored 18 points with their Joker to win this round.

Round Four – ‘Picture Round’

The Picture Round this week saw our teams having to name 10 British Sporting Champions, with only their eyes visible.

“Mirren’s Team” were the only team to get all ten correct in this round.

Round Five – ‘Themed Round’

Our Themed Round this week was a Music Round – ten well -known songs, where the name of a drink was included in the song title, and our teams had to name that drink.

The last remaining Jokers were played in this round, and “Despair Shop” and “Universally Challenged” shared the lead on 14 points apiece.

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’

The Snowball Jackpot had now increased to £80 for this weeks ‘Total Wipeout’ round.

With NINE of the teams failing to register any points in the round this week, there were still no winners, meaning next week’s Jackpot goes up to a tasty £90!

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

In the final ‘Guess Who?’ round, “The Divas” were the ONLY team to correctly guess former US President Ronald Reagan as the mystery celebrity, winning them the £20 prize this week.

“The Clan” ran out as the winners for this week, securing the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card on 73 points, with “Universally Challenged” second on 70 points and “The Bridies” in third place on 67 points.
