Week #190 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (11/06/2026)

The second Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support of June was another really well-attended night, with 18 teams and over 70 quizzers taking part.

We were delighted to have another new team in as well – “ACE” – meaning we’ve now welcomed an incredible 398 teams into The Compass since the Quiz began 190 weeks ago!

Round One – ‘Starter For Ten’

None of the teams played their Joker in Round One, and it was “The Bridies” and “The Clan” who shared the early lead, scoring 9 points each.

Round Two – ‘Word Puzzle Round’

With it being the start of the FIFA World Cup, we had a few football-themed rounds, beginning with a wordsearch for the Word Puzzle Round, containing the names of 10 competing nations!

And 10 proved to be the magic number, with ALL of our teamsgettomg perfect scores AND 2 Bonus Points EACH!

Round Three – ‘Multiple Choice General Knowledge’

With all but one of the teams having already played their Joker, it was “The Clan” who top-scored in round 4 with 8 points in the ‘Multiple Choice’ round.

Round Four – ‘Picture Round’

The Picture Round this week had more football flavour to it – 10 ex-international footballers, who had gone on to further fame and fortune in careers after football.

Again, this was a really high-scoring round with no team scoring less than 8 points and ELEVEN teams scoring perfect 10s!

Round Five – ‘Themed Round’

For Round 5, the theme was the ‘History of the FIFA World Cup’ – again it was a fairly high-scoring roun, with FOUR teams getting full marks. “The Bridies”, “Universally Challenged” and “We’re Still Thinking” had ALL enjoyed 3 perfect rounds, including one each with their Jokers!

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’

The Snowball Jackpot was back at £10 for this weeks ‘Total Wipeout’ round, but with the added incentive of a perfect 10/10 meaning double Bonus Points for the night..

With THIRTEEN of the teams failing to register any points in the round this week, “Team Mac” our top-scorers on 4points, the Snowball jackpot goes up to £20 for next week.

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

The final ‘Guess Who?’ round, saw THREE teams correctly guess that our Mystery Celebrity this week was broadcaster Selina Scott.

However, it wasn’t until the thhird clue that anyone guessed correctly, and so there were no additional Bonus Points for ‘Team of the Month’ this time!

“Dunderheids” were the lucky ones drawn out this week however to win the £20 cash prize!
