Week #191 – Thursday Quiz @ The Compass (18/06/2026)

The third Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support was another busy night.

We were delighted to welcome SEVENTEEN teams along for the Quiz, with over SEVENTY people taking part.

We are now just 2 teams away from achieving the magical FOUR HUNDRED teams who have taken part since the Quiz began.

So who would be our ‘Team of the Week’, this week?

The Compass, Harbour Drive, Dalgety Bay

Round One – Starter For Ten

The opening round didn’t see any particularly high-scoring.

None of the teams managed to get full-marks in this round, and our top-scorers were “Caledonian MacBrains” who took the lead on 12 points, having played their Joker straight away.

Round Two – Word Puzzle Round (‘Blankety Blank’ – Famous TV Quotes’)

The Word Puzzle Round was an entirely different affair however.

This week, the round was ‘Blankety Blank’, with the teams having to guess the missing word from 10 well-known movie quotes.

And SIXTEEN of the teams scored full-mark, all earning their first 2 Bonus Points of the evening in the process!

Not only that, but “Tequila Mockingbird”, “The Bridies”, “The Clan” and “Universally Challenged” had ALL played their Jokers, to score a maximum 22 points.

Round Three – Multiple Choice General Knowledge

Despite the high-scoring of the previous round, none of the teams managed to record any perfect scores in the ‘Multiple Choice’ round.

No Jokers were played either, and so “Hoddit & Doddit” were the top-scorers for this round on 9 points.

Round Four – Picture Round (Famous TV Dads -‘Name the Show’)

With Fathers’ Day being this coming Sunday, the Picture Round this week saw our teams presented with the faces of 10 famous TV dads – all they had to do was name the show that they appeared in!

And this saw some more high scores, with ELEVEN Jokers being played!

SEVEN of the teams scored full-marks in this round, all earning 2 more Bonus Points each.

But “Hoddit & Doddit”, “Quizteam Aguilera”, “The Giggle Gang” and “Universally Challenged” ALL managed maximum scores of 22 points, having kept their Jokers for this round!

Round Five – Themed Round: Music Round (TV Ads – Name The Brand/Product’)

Round Five proved to be a real challenge for our teams this week.  They were played 10 well-known pieces of music, and asked to work out what brand or product they had been used for in TV advertising campaigns.

None of our teams scored highly, with 4 points being the best score, shared by four of the teams, ironically enough!

Round Six – ‘Total Wipeout Round’ (£20 Snowball Cash Jackpot)

Our updated incentive for ‘Total Wipeout’ means that as well as winning up to £100 in cash, any team who gets 10 answers correct on ‘Total Wipeout’ will now get their Bonus Points for the evening DOUBLED!

Plus they get 10 points towards their score for the evening!

Of course, if they haven’t got any Bonus Points, unfortunately there is nothing to double!

And this week, the Snowball Jackpot stood at £20 – but with NINE teams scoring zero points, and no team scoring higher than 6 points, the Jackpot next week will be £30!

In addition, EVERY team who gets the ‘Guess Who?’ mystery celebrity answer correct on the FIRST CLUE will receive 10 Bonus Points towards their total for ‘Team of the Month’ which should make things REALLY interesting at the end of the month!

But would any of the teams manage it this week, with SIX teams having done it last week?

Round Seven – ”Guess Who?’ Round’

Only “ACE” managed to correctly guess that TV personality and businessman, Lord Alan Sugar was this week’s ‘Guess Who?’ mystery celebrity on this first clue.

So they pocketed the £20 cash prize, along with 20 points AND those extra 10 points towards their ‘Team of the Month’ score.

ALL of the other teams guessed correctly on  next clue, meaning they all scored 18 points!

A Nail-biting Finish!

It was another closely-fought Quiz this week, with “The Bridies” winning for the 3rd week in a row in June, this time with a score of 74 points!

So they won yet another £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card of June.

Just one point behind “The Bridies”, “Universally Challenged” and “Tequila Mockingbird” were deadlocked on 73 points each, and it took a Tie-Break question for “Universally Challenged” to claim second place as their own for the third straight week!

How The Teams Finished...

We look forward to seeing you at The Compass this Thursday from 8pm in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for the final Quiz of June.

Will “The Bridies” make it a full house of wins for the month?  Can “Universally Challenged” go one better next week to get the win?

And who will come on top and be named ‘Team of the Month’ for June to win that £50 cash prize.

Come to our monthly Quiz!
